Privacy Policy

Tend is a health and wellness journal and support application. This policy explains how Tend collects, uses, protects, and shares information. It applies to the Tend mobile app, related Tend web experiences, and this policy website. In this policy, “Tend,” “we,” “us,” and “our” refer to the operator of the Tend service.

Tend helps people record and understand health and wellness information, organize medications and care visits, and share selected information with people they trust.

Tend is not an emergency service, a healthcare provider, a diagnostic system, or a regulated medical device. Tend does not diagnose conditions, prescribe treatment, or determine medication dosages. If you have a medical emergency, contact your local emergency services.

Account and profile information

• Name
• Email address
• Username
• Account identifier
• Optional phone number
• Optional profile photo
• Authentication and account settings
• Information received from Apple or Google when you choose Sign in with Apple or Google Sign-In. Depending on the provider and your settings, this may include your name, email address, profile information, and authentication identifiers.

Health and wellness information

• Journal entries
• Mood scores
• Symptoms
• Notes
• Sleep, nutrition, hydration, exercise, activity, and fitness information
• Custom wellness fields and measurements
• Dates and times associated with entries and activities
• Trends and summaries calculated from your records

Medication and supplement information

• Medication and supplement names
• Strength, dose, units, schedules, frequency, food timing, and your notes
• Taken, missed, skipped, overdue, extra, and as-needed dose records
• Medication adherence history
• Supply quantities and refill information
• Medication change history
• Information you select or confirm from medication and supplement reference sources

Care and visit information

• Healthcare provider names and specialties
• Appointment and visit dates
• Reasons for visits
• Symptoms, diagnoses, notes, questions, discussion summaries, follow-up information, next steps, and ratings
• Optional visit attachments

Support and communication information

• Support invitations and accepted support relationships
• Permission and privacy settings
• The date a support relationship began
• Comments, replies, reactions, and other in-app communications
• Content you choose to share with approved supporters
• In-app support relationship information, sometimes described as a social graph

Photos and files

• Optional profile photos selected from your photo library or camera
• Optional files or images you attach to care visits

Tend does not access your photo library or camera unless you choose to use the applicable feature and grant the corresponding device permission.

• Internal user and account identifiers
• Apple Push Notification service (APNs) device tokens or installation identifiers
• Notification preferences
• Basic technical and security information needed to operate and protect the service
• Product interactions such as app feature use, content views, reactions, comments, and other engagement events
• Basic connection information that hosting and infrastructure providers may process, such as IP address, browser type, device type, request time, and error or security logs

Tend may use interaction information to deliver features, show relevant activity to authorized users, understand whether features are working, protect the service, and improve the product.

Tend does not collect an advertising identifier for advertising, does not display advertising, and does not use this information for cross-app tracking.

Tend does not currently:

• Access the iPhone address book or device contact list
• Access HealthKit
• Access Apple's Motion and Fitness APIs
• Collect precise or coarse location
• Collect payment or financial information
• Collect audio recordings
• Collect browsing history
• Collect advertising data
• Sell personal or health information

Tend does store the network of supporters you create inside the app, even though it does not read your device's address book.

Information may come from:

• You
• Other Tend users who invite, support, comment, reply, or react
• Sign in with Apple or Google Sign-In, when you select one of those authentication methods
• Your device, for notification delivery and permissions
• Public or government-supported medication and supplement reference services

When you search for a medication or supplement, Tend may transmit your search term to its server and query one or more reference services, including:

• RxNorm or RxNav
• openFDA
• DailyMed
• NIH Dietary Supplement Label Database (DSLD)

Tend uses the returned information to help populate medication or supplement details. That information is reference material, not individualized dosage advice.

Tend does not intentionally maintain a separate history of medication search terms, although normal server or security logs may temporarily process request information.

Tend uses information for the following purposes:

• Creating and maintaining accounts
• Authenticating users
• Synchronizing records across authorized sessions and devices
• Providing journal, activity, trend, medication, adherence, visit, reminder, and supporter features
• Calculating summaries and trends you request
• Delivering push notifications
• Applying your sharing, visibility, and permission choices
• Enabling comments, replies, reactions, and support relationships
• Responding to support and privacy requests
• Detecting abuse, fraud, security problems, and technical failures
• Maintaining, debugging, and improving Tend
• Complying with applicable legal obligations
• Protecting users, Tend, and others

To be explicit:

• Tend does not use health information for third-party advertising.
• Tend does not sell personal or health information.
• Tend does not share information with data brokers.
• Tend does not use personal health content to train third-party artificial-intelligence models.
• Tend does not make automated medical diagnoses or treatment decisions.

• Tend is not an open or publicly discoverable social network.
• A support relationship requires an invitation and an acceptance.
• Pending invitees cannot access your health or journal information.
• Approved supporters can access only the information permitted by your audience, permission, and privacy settings.
• “Supporters” visibility inside Tend means available to your approved Tend supporters. It does not mean publicly available on the internet, and it does not make content visible to unrelated Tend users.
• Higher supporter access levels may allow access to additional information, such as overall trends, medications, medication history, or care visits.
• Private comments and replies are limited to the relevant owner and supporter.
• Health and journal information is never displayed in supporter search results.
• Profile information such as username, name, email address, or an optional phone number may be used to locate the intended person for an invitation, subject to applicable profile settings.
• Removing a supporter revokes that person's future in-app access.
• Tend may preserve limited structural relationship, thread, or audit information where necessary for service integrity, safety, and continuity, subject to the deletion practices described below.
• Tend cannot control information an authorized recipient previously copied, exported, photographed, or otherwise saved outside Tend.

Information may be disclosed:

• To a supporter or other Tend user when you direct and authorize it
• To infrastructure and service providers that process information for Tend
• When required by law, court order, or valid legal process
• To protect safety, rights, and the security of the service
• As part of a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale, subject to appropriate notice and continued protection

Service providers may use information only to perform services for Tend, and they must protect it consistently with this policy and applicable requirements.

Third-party services operate under their own terms and privacy notices.

Tend uses reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards, including:

• Encryption in transit
• Authentication
• Access controls
• Database authorization rules
• Restricted supporter access
• Permission and privacy settings
• Measures intended to prevent unauthorized account access

No method of electronic storage or transmission can be guaranteed to be completely secure. Tend does not claim end-to-end encryption, perfect security, or any certification or regulatory status that has not been established.

• Tend generally retains account information and user content while the account remains active or as needed to provide the service.
• Individual entries, medications, visits, activities, comments, and other records may be retained until you delete them, permanently delete your account, or another applicable retention rule requires action.
• You can permanently delete your Tend account directly in the app through Profile → Account management → Permanent account deletion.
• Permanent account deletion is designed to remove your Tend account, profile, owned health and wellness records, medications, visits, activities, and associated personal data. Where preserving another person's conversation requires a structural placeholder, a deleted comment or reply may remain only as a non-identifying placeholder; the deleted user's original comment text and profile identity are removed.
• Residual copies may remain temporarily in routine backups or logs until they are overwritten or expire through normal retention cycles.
• Deidentified or aggregated information that can no longer reasonably identify a person may be retained.

Depending on where you live and the feature involved, you may:

• Edit your account and profile information
• Change supporter permissions and privacy settings
• Remove supporter access
• Change notification preferences
• Revoke camera or photo-library permission in iOS Settings
• Request access to your information
• Request correction of your information
• Request a portable copy when reasonably available
• Request deletion of your account and associated information
• Object to or restrict certain processing where applicable
• Withdraw consent where processing depends on consent

To permanently delete your account, use Profile → Account management → Permanent account deletion in the Tend app.

Please do not include sensitive health details in your initial email. Tend may need to verify account ownership before completing a request. Rights vary by location and may be subject to lawful exceptions.

Tend processes health and wellness information only to provide the features you select, maintain the service, protect security, and fulfill sharing you direct.

Categories of consumer health information include symptoms, mood, activities, sleep, nutrition, hydration, medications, supplements, dose history, care visits, notes, attachments, trends, and information that may reveal or imply a health condition.

Sources include you, approved Tend supporters, authentication services you select, and medication or supplement reference sources.

Consumer health information may be disclosed to approved supporters at your direction, and to the service providers needed to operate Tend.

• Tend does not sell consumer health information.
• Tend does not use consumer health information for targeted advertising.

You can revoke future supporter access at any time and permanently delete your Tend account through Profile → Account management → Permanent account deletion.

Tend is not directed to children under 13, and people under 13 should not create an account.

If Tend learns that it collected personal information from a child under 13 without appropriate authorization, it will take reasonable steps to delete that information. If you believe a child has provided information to Tend, email teamtendhq@gmail.com.

Tend and its service providers may process information in the United States or other locations where they operate. Where required, Tend will use appropriate safeguards for international transfers of information.

Tend may update this policy as the app, its service providers, or legal requirements change. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above.

For material changes, we may also provide notice through the app or another reasonable method. Where affirmative consent is legally required for a change, we will seek that consent.
